Anniversary || 14 years of grind

14 years have gone by. As per Hindu mythology, Ram went in exile for 14 years, and Sita went with him.

I am not vain enough to compare myself with Ram, in any form or shape. But you have really stuck along in my journey.

Of course I was never exiled, but I have been a vagabond, because of my profession. Sita gave up her palace, you gave up your career, to be with me like a vagabond. I still remember, when my first assignment was declared, I was worried, will you come with me. I do not want to leave you and go. But you kind of took it as an insult, that I even harbored the thought that you might disagree to go along.

You were always there, during the stress of relocation, and as years went by, ti is kind of taken for granted that you will be there. Think 14 years of companionship does that to one. Accepting someone’s sacrifice as a obvious thing, under-valuing it a bit may be as well.

I sometimes cannot fight my own battles, can go into a corner and brood, but you will not take that. You cannot understand, how can one be moody and jovial at the same time. But then you never spend enough time in the mirror too, so see the similarity. Since I see a reflection of my moods in you and vice versa. You can be demanding , yet giving. You can be naïve, yet smart. You can be angry and rude, yet can be forgiving and friendly.

Sita did not have a happy ending, and that is why I don’t aspire to be Ram. I am not as strong as Ram to see you go through any more pain than what I, anyways, give you every day.

By the way, as per Indian Constitution, we have completed the minimum number of years of life time imprisonment. So, after this, imprisonment can be ended, based on good behavior.
