15 Years…and counting

Any judge would be happy to know, that we have successfully completed a life term of prison, without killing each other. Considering how volatile our arguments can get, and how I keep poking you, when you are angry, it’s a miracle, I still am alive.

Even our little one gets scared when you are angry, and stay away from you. But, me, being me, always want to take the challenge, which seems impossible for others.

But honestly, every time, when you are angry and spitting fire, it scares me. But, then I have to maintain the “brand” in front of the little one of “daddy cool will handle”.

After all, only water can cool fire, and keep it in check. But then fire can heat up water as well. You ensure, I don’t cool down in my “pursuit of happyness”. Similarly, when emotions take you over, I needed to get burned, to cool you down.

Of course, it is not always smouldering hot. You can be a chirpy, crackling camp fire on a winter night. Also, you can be a candle light , in a dark stormy night.

You are the Yang of my life, which balances my Ying. Fire and Water should not stay together, since eventually the stronger will destory the other. But if the right balance is found, then it can help both. Since boiling the water is considered making it drinkable or pure. Also, Fire kept under control can give light and heat, which can make a house be called “home”.

In 15 years, trial by experience, we have not yet achieved the balance. Sometimes the fire spikes up trying to engulf the home. Sometimes, the water boils up to become steam to destroy whoever touches it, or it tries to thrash against the fragile walls of the home. But some how, we manage and bring each other in control, or let one bring the other in control.

Long this may last, and this play of Fire and Water continue for eternity, till the flame loses its bite and water loses it flow!!
